SIGNATURE ROUTES & CLASSIC OBJECTIVES
Mt. Assiniboine Provincial Park is home to some of the most iconic backpacking objectives in the Canadian Rockies, and its classic routes often form the backbone of our custom itineraries. Highlights include the long and scenic approaches via Sunshine Meadows and Brewster Creek, the dramatic high passes of Wonder Pass and Assiniboine Pass, and the legendary alpine core surrounding Magog Lake, Sunburst Lake, and Cerulean Lake beneath the towering north face of Mount Assiniboine. Many trips also incorporate side hikes to The Nub, Naiset Huts, and the expansive Og Lake basin, offering sweeping views of glaciers, limestone spires, and vast alpine meadows. Each route reveals a different aspect of Mt. Assiniboine’s alpine environment; from flower-filled meadows and turquoise lakes to rugged passes and glaciated peaks. Depending on the itinerary we design together, your backpacking trip can range from moderate to advanced, with trip lengths typically spanning 3 to 8 days.
