Overview

Spend a full day exploring one of Vancouver Island’s iconic subalpine regions with a guided hike through the Forbidden Plateau in Strathcona Provincial Park. This classic Vancouver Island hiking tour leads you through wildflower-filled meadows, peaceful mountain lakes, and lush sub-alpine forest. The Forbidden Plateau blends approachable terrain with big-mountain atmosphere: rolling climbs, boardwalk trails, crystal-clear tarns, and panoramic Vancouver Island mountain views that stretch toward the rugged heart of Strathcona. On clear days, distant peaks rise sharp and dramatic across the skyline, reminding you that this island holds a wild alpine world just waiting to be explored. This tour is fully customizable for your group with multiple routes through the park, we can tailor the hike from easy to advanced, covering a variety of distances to suit your pace and interests.

Your guide will customize the hike to match your group’s pace, experience, and interests, offering shorter, gentler options or longer, more challenging routes through the park’s rugged sub-alpine wilderness.
